How to build self-confidence
So how do we go about building up our confidence level? Once we need realize that how we see ourselves determines how much self-confidence we have the plan becomes obvious, we need to improve our perception of ourselves. Here are some ways we can do that:
1) Affirmations. Since self-confidence is mental and based on the thoughts we have about ourselves it only makes sense that changing our self-dialogue, the things we say to ourselves, has the power to change our thoughts. We’re always going to be thinking of something so we might as well make it something positive and uplifting.
2) Dress better. – How we dress and display ourselves to the world says a lot about who we perceive ourselves to be. Basically, when you dress better you’re treated better and you feel better. If you take the time to watch a few makeover shows on TV you’ll see that changing the way we dress is one of the critical steps to making a new and better impression. When people give you more respect you’ll find your internal world, and your self-confidence will improve as well.
3) Change your posture. – How you carry yourself reveals how you feel about yourself on the inside. By the same token, changing your posture can powerfully influence how both you and the outside world see you. The advice Mom always gives you, “stand up straight, shoulders back, make eye contact” is good advice in this area.
4) Walk “with authority”. – You’ve heard the phrase, “he walks with a spring in his step”, well how you walk also affects how you feel about yourself and how the world sees you. Important and confident people walk with a purpose, which generally means they walk at a fast pace, head up and focused.
5) Work out. – Being physically fit has an enormous impact on how we see ourselves and on our energy levels. Get out, get moving and get some oxygen. Make some form of exercising a part of your usual routine and you will start to see enormous improvements in both your self-confidence and self-esteem.
